I assume you are quoting from the following post, see: http://www.many-roads.com/2010/04/19/a-history-of-french-canada-1536-to-1609/ As it says on the post I recommend you contact the original author with any inquiries or questions.

My brother sent me info on your site.
We are related to Marie Archambault, who as our relatives new came over from France to marry Urbain Tessier (Tessier dit Lavigne).
Your records shown to me state that Marie is Metis baptized.
What does “Metis baptized” mean and how do you confirm if a name you have is Metis?
You see so far our research has shown us, along with verbage given to my brother by our Great Grandfather Leo Chester Cunningham, that farther down the Tessier line, a Marie who married George Dean (whom we can’ seem to find anything about) is the one who has given us the right to say that we are Metis. When we have sent our research done so far into our Provincial Metis organization, they always come back simply congratulating us on our work done and then stating that yes we are Metis and then give us our Metis Card.
I’d really like to hear from your training/wisdom please.

Hi Sheryl. I am not quite sure what I can add to your findings. If your research is recognized by your local Metis group, it seems they agree with your findings and have acknowledged the accuracy of your work. More on Metis qualification can be found at: http://www.canadianmetis.com/Qualifying.htm Perhaps this helps some… Bon chance! …mark
