I have 3 German ancestors and was wondering if you could help me with different variants of their names.
1. VanAuken
2. Van Stanbergle
3. Hart
Thank you in advance! I’ve enjoyed reading your genealogy hints.

Hi Judy. Both names with Van look Dutch rather than German. German names would normally have “von” (from) as the prefix. Hart is a good German spelling, I would search it as it is… although it is pretty common and that might make it hard to locate the right folks.
